The Best Way To Become Pregnant
by Helene Kvist
Of course it depends on your current situation, your basic health and a few other things, but the best way to get pregnant is usually a fairly straightforward affair.
There are five things to be aware of, and get right;
- your head (ie. your attitude),
- your diet,
- exercise,
- your stress level,
- timing intercourse
Firstly, your attitude. I know, you are groaning at the mere mention of this, that word (attitude) carries so much baggage. However, my own experience and those of many other women I talk to indicate it is definitely a factor. If you are looking for the best way to become pregnant, simply wanting it could make a huge difference. The body is a communication system of chemicals and hormones and in the case of ovulating and fertilizing an egg within the uterus thousands of interactions having to go just right. When you say outwardly you want a baby, but inwardly have doubts. Guess which dialogue your body listens to?
A morose, doubtful mood, sadness, produces a chemical and hormonal environment in you that is not positive for your fertility. On the other hand, a buoyant, happy, positively expectant mood produces another chemical and hormonal environment inside you, one that is very positive for your fertility.
Doctors scoff at this, however, it has become a very common theme to hear of the many women who try for years to conceive, without success, and then suddenly, after they “stopped trying”, or found a new partner with whom they were truly happy, find themselves pregnant.
Secondly, your diet is another factor that, if you focus on it and it alone, could be the best way to become pregnant. Because your diet influences insulin levels in your body, and insulin levels have a direct effect on ovulation, especially in the case of Poly Cystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), adopting a diet that keeps your insulin consistently at normal levels is a powerful way of maximizing your fertility and chances of getting pregnant.
There are a few things to focus on, but the main factors of a fertility diet are; replacing foods made with refined carbohydrates with those made with complex carbohydrates. In general, replace white bread with brown, white rice with brown, white sugar with brown. In fact try and eliminate sugar altogether.
Also, replace animal protein sources with plant protein. Instead of red meat, choose nuts, beans, and seeds. Whole wheat products as well. Replace saturated fats with poly and monounsaturated fats.
Third, exercise. I know, you like to avoid exercise at all costs. That’s how it is for me. But the evidence is beyond dispute. Moderate daily exercise has such a positive effect on your health, and your fertility, you simply must do it.
For example, a brisk, daily 30 minute walk works your circulatory system and gets your blood flowing. Most importantly for your fertility, it gets your lymph system, your body’s cleaning system, working at a higher level of efficiency. This means all the rubbish is cleaned out of your cells, your immune system is more efficient, and everything works with more ease and effectiveness. If you think exercise is a drag, start thinking about everything good is does for your body, and your fertility … you will learn to love it.
Fourth, your stress levels. Stress has been dismissed by doctors for years as having any effect on a woman’s fertility, however research is beginning to show it is indeed a factor. In a number of different studies, high levels of stress hormones have shown to decrease the release of sex hormones in men and women. The result?
Suppressed ovulation in women and lower sperm count in men!
If you are looking for one of the best ways to become pregnant, lower the amount of stress you experience every day. This may require some changes in your lifestyle, and your may have some choices to make. Be aware though, stress is a big factor in your fertility.
Fifth, timing intercourse. The bottom line is, if sperm doesn’t meet egg, fertilization doesn’t happen. The way to make fertilization most likely to happen is to have intercourse with your partner on the day of ovulation and the day after ovulation. This gives the sperm time swim up and meet the egg in the Fallopian tube. Avoid having intercourse for five days leading up to the day of ovulation so there is no old and dead sperm cluttering up the place. Oh and yes, you need to track your Basal Body Temperature to know when you are ovulating. Buy a digital thermometer and some graph paper, that’s all you need.
So which of these five is the best way to become pregnant? Well, either one of these factors can prevent you from conceiving, and correcting either one could result in you suddenly becoming pregnant. No single one of the above factors is the best way to become pregnant … they all are.
Maybe you can start off by choosing one to focus on, and get right. Then, focus on another. If you end up changing your lifestyle so you address all of the five elements above, you can be secure in the knowledge you are following the best way to become pregnant, and will conceive soon.
